When pythons dance: IPOB, Kanu and the Biafra struggle

Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu
In the wake of his disappearance, where are his lieutenants or, indeed, his foot soldiers who had vowed to storm the ‘zoo’ and make life unlivable for its inhabitants and their clueless leaders? The foregoing are relevant questions for IPOB, leaders of the group and their supporters.
And there can be no credible answer to any of the questions until such an answer recognises the difference between a genuine and strategically planned and executed struggle as opposed to the fascination with the optics of such a struggle. More on this shortly but a word first on ‘Python Dance 2’.
This is the code name of the ongoing operation embarked upon by the Nigerian military in the wake of the renewed agitation for a separate Biafran state by members of IPOB in the South-east. It was ostensibly launched to rein in the activities of kidnappers, armed robbers and other undesirable elements in its theatre of operation.

That Cossy Ojiakor has one of the biggest B00bs in the Nigerian entertainment industry, is a fact that has never been contested. Even though there have been a couple of new bloods who have displaced Cossy as the ultimate ‘boob queen’ in the industry, the part-time singer is still one to be reckoned with in that department. ”Everyone In Nigeria Is Living In Danger And Fear” – Femi Falana

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana in an interview with Punch has said it is an irony that those clamouring for the division of Nigeria are not consistently at the regions considered as their origin – while Nnamdi Kanu(IPOB leader) together with his wife has dual citizenship, Yerima Shetima (leader of Northern coalition that gave quit notice to Igbos) lives in Lagos. He said; ”’It is an irony that Kanu, who is leading the struggle for the balkanization of Nigeria, has dual citizenship, while Mr Shettima Yerima, who gave the quit notice to Igbo people in the North lives in Lagos. Everybody’s life is in danger. Nigerians are shot dead in their homes by armed robbers or on the roads by soldiers or policemen or by armed herdsmen on their farms…Even President Muhammadu Buhari had to be flown to Britain for medical attention because his life was in danger here.” He says it is not fear that made the Buhari administration to declare IPOB a terrorist organisation but the belief that the unity of…

Inaccurate billing responsible for irregular power supply in Nigeria – Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that the problem of irregular power supply in Nigeria is caused by inaccurate billing system resulting from insufficient metering machines.
Osinbajo made the remarks on Saturday in Onna local government area of Akwa Ibom while inaugurating an Electric Metering Factory as part of activities marking the 30th anniversary of Akwa Ibom creation.
The vice president said that Nigeria’s economic development hinged on effective power supply, lamenting that Distribution Companies (DISCOs) had not been able to collect tariffs because of non-availability of meters.
“The electric metering factory is an important project. Inadequate power is the major obstacle to full economic development in Nigeria.
